After blog stalking one night I found the most perfect blog! I'm in love with her site and all of the creative things she does. Her site is
Little Miss Momma and I check it every day now! She has so many different things she talks about and makes. Also... she has pretty cool blogger friends too! I found the super cute idea on her site on how to make flower brooches or a hair thingy! Ashley clips them on head bands which is super cute. I've started making them for ladies at work and they just love them as brooches! Making things for people makes me happy! She also made some into a necklace... which made the light bulb go off in my head! Hmmm... off to Hobby Lobby! On my usual Saturday trip to Hobby Lobby I was alone because Jason knew I would be in there forever and there is only so much Hobby Lobby Jason can take. :) Ha Ha! As I took my LONG drive to craft land I decided to stop at my first antique shop! Boy was that a mistake! I was very good though keeping in mind all the things I needed to buy at Hobby Lobby. I checked out all of the cute little booths they had set up... keeping my eye out for something that scream out at me. I started to think of the flowers I started making. What would be something cute to put in the center of the flowers. I was getting tired of pearls being the only thing I had. I found a pack of gold/ copper buttons. A mini bag of different shapes and sizes for $3!! I was pumped! Right before I decided to check out I found the coolest pair of clip on earrings. They looked very vintage which called my name... saying YOU NEED US MeG!!! I was afraid to see the price since they almost looked like they had a pearl as one of the decor balls. They pulled them out of the case and the tag said... $3!!! Really? OK, I grabbed them and went to the check out asap! My grand total was less than $7 for tons of cute center pieces for my flowers!
I was so proud of myself for my awesome cheap-O find! Once arriving at my destination I grabbed my shopping cart and took off to the paint section. $.99 paint was my first problem... then 30% off canvas too! EEEK! I need to U-TURN this buggy to the fabric section A SAP! When I strolled up to the fabric I was tickled to see.. 30% all of the fabric I was interested in! WOOP! I bought a really cool navy almost denium colored. Then a basic khaki that would be a good netural color. (Perfect with the copper buttons) I really wanted some type of silky or meshy fabric to play with. I found the CLEARENCE rack of fabric and it had two PERFECT colors! A white and caramel color silky/mesh fabric. I racked up big time on those since they were on sale.
I stayed up until 4:00a.m. on Saturday playing with crafts! I swear I have ADD when it comes to crafting. I start one project and finish then I rotate to another. WEIRD I know... but it keeps it fresh and exciting for me. I was also jamming out to some Norah Jones. I'm in love with her newest album right now. I just couldn't stop making things and had to make myself go to bed knowing I would hate myself for staying up this long.
I made my boss Alice a necklace and brooch since she is always sporting a cute flower brooch on her blouses and jackets. The necklace... well, it reminded me of Talbots in a way and the way Ashley designed one of hers made me want to make one! I used the white fabric for all three flowers. I made the center flower puffy and fluffy with the vintage earring in the center! PERFECT touch! Then I made two different types of flowers for the end. While shopping at Sloans eairler that day for a new toliet kit... (yeah, I felt like a plumber helping Jason fix the toliet) I found some cool chains. Not really sure what the good ole people of Vonore would use these for... they were also next to a bucket that said, "Dog leash chair...$.39 a yard." Ummm... first of all, poor dogs being chained up and second why the hell am I getting crafty ideas from Sloans hardware store?? I loved it! My creative brain was going nuts thinking of ideas. I bought gold in a few different styles and one silver colored chain. No dog chains.. don't worry.
I've made a few so far and it's so easy and fun to make! Below are a few of the flower powers I've made! Enjoy!!!
