Phones Phones Phones!!!!

Can You Hear Me Now???

Took me a little trip to the Verizon store today! :)

Let me explain... Granny and Pop both have cell phones on my account along with Drewby. Drew and I both pay the Verizon bill. Gran's phone is the old orange ENV and it's not holding charge for even 5 minutes while she's on the phone. We had 2 upgrades on our account and I decided to pass down my Droid Incredible to Gran and buy myself an iPhone 4G. (Jason just got one and I'm obsessed with it!!) While at the Verizon store I decided to look at the *normal plain Jane flip phones* for Pop. Nothing crazy, just an easy to use phone that he can talk on. I saw the Samsung Haven and thought it looked like the perfect phone for my sweet Pop! It had larger number buttons and all also two other buttons at the top that. One is for 911 and the other is ICE. ICE= In Case of Emergency. So what I'll do is program mine, Gran and Drew's phone number under the ICE button. :) It's the perfect phone for Pop too! Poor Pop has had the same cell phone since 2003!!! Crazy to think about... I've had... hmmm...  LOL! Well his old phone is one of the first camera phones by LG. It's silver with a little blue oval around the camera. I think everyone had that phone when it came out. Pop doesn't use the camera and I know he would want the easy phone to make calls on. :)

Best Grandchild of the year.... ME! :) Only kidding! But it makes me happy to get them new things. Drew and I just bought her a Kindle for her B-day and she's in love with it! :) Stays up all night long reading books.

I'll take my trip to Pop and Gran's for our lazy Sunday with yummy lunch followed by snuggle time with Blue!! :) Favorite day of my week! Nap time might get ruined though by teaching them to use their new phones. Training class tomorrow! Cell phones 101! I'm so excited!!

Shampoo War!!!

Hi my name is MeG and I'm a shampoo and conditioner aholic!!! I'm aware that I have a problem and my Granny tells me ALL the time... "Stay away from the shampoo aisle!!!"  I might have a little OCD when it comes to this illness. Whenever I go to the store I HAVE to go down the shampoo isle. I don't feel like my shopping experience is complete unless I take a stroll down that wonderful colorful aisle. Maybe that's the problem... it's colorful? All of those colorful bottle of awesome smells ready to make my hair shiny and soft! LOL! Super weird I know but that's just how I am when it comes to my hair. I'm not all about buying salon brands either... I'm more interested in the everyday shampoos and conditioners. The point behind all of this would be... IT'S TIME TO BUY *NEW* SHAMPOO AND CONDITIONER!!!!!!! Oh the choices I will have as I venture into good ole Walmart. I like to mix it up every time we have to get new bottles. Hmmmm... what will I pick???

A few of my favorites and why I like them!

Aussie- Moist
I really liked this shampoo and conditioner. We were shopping at Target one say and saw this size on sale for $5 for a huge bottle. It smells really good too! Almost a coconut scent! The Conditioner is GREAT too!

TRESemme TRESemme OH LA LAAAA!!!
I'll always be a huge fan of these two! Moisture and Smooth. I LOVE the smell of this brand because it almost stays with you all day long!  Since my hair is growing super long now the SMOOTH is wonderful for tangles!

DOVE Daily Moisture!
Love me some Dove too! When I worked for Dove is was AWESOME! I always had free products to test out and samples that would last me for sometimes up to a year. Dang, those were the days! My shower looked like a Dove product testers shower.

Pantene!
It's always hard to say no to Pantene. My mom and I used this brand all the time growing up! Maybe that's what I need to buy next because she had long beautiful hair. Hmmm... that's a thought.

Stumbleupon.com Thank you!! Peanut Butter Cup Brownies!

After a long day of work I didn't want to do anything but relax! I'm so sleepy too! Boo... not in the mood to make something. :( Not in a slump... just tired and not in the mood to get all of my crafts out since we just cleaned the house. Needing a get away from NBA basketball (I'm not a huge bball fan, football and baseball for me!) I decided to plug in my head phone a put my ipod on shuffle all! <3 Who will come on next? Opened the computer and hit the stumble button on StumbleUpon.com tool bar I downloaded. I'm in love with that little button! I came across this super cute blog that had so many cute ideas. I started to scroll down and saw PEANUT BUTTER CUP... BROWNIES!!! So what makes this even better?? Jason loves Reeses Cups and he also loves brownies!! Guess he'll have some yummy goodies in his Easter basket! :) I can't wait to make these Sunday with Pop and Gran!! :) Enjoy!!!

FLOWER POWER!!!

After blog stalking one night I found the most perfect blog! I'm in love with her site and all of the creative things she does. Her site is Little Miss Momma and I check it every day now! She has so many different things she talks about and makes. Also... she has pretty cool blogger friends too! I found the super cute idea on her site on how to make flower brooches or a hair thingy! Ashley clips them on head bands which is super cute. I've started making them for ladies at work and they just love them as brooches! Making things for people makes me happy! She also made some into a necklace... which made the light bulb go off in my head! Hmmm... off to Hobby Lobby! On my usual Saturday trip to Hobby Lobby I was alone because Jason knew I would be in there forever and there is only so much Hobby Lobby Jason can take. :) Ha Ha! As I took my LONG drive to craft land I decided to stop at my first antique shop! Boy was that a mistake! I was very good though keeping in mind all the things I needed to buy at Hobby Lobby. I checked out all of the cute little booths they had set up... keeping my eye out for something that scream out at me. I started to think of the flowers I started making. What would be something cute to put in the center of the flowers. I was getting tired of pearls being the only thing I had. I found a pack of gold/ copper buttons. A mini bag of different shapes and sizes for $3!! I was pumped! Right before I decided to check out I found the coolest pair of clip on earrings. They looked very vintage which called my name... saying YOU NEED US MeG!!! I was afraid to see the price since they almost looked like they had a pearl as one of the decor balls. They pulled them out of the case and the tag said... $3!!! Really? OK, I grabbed them and went to the check out asap! My grand total was less than $7 for tons of cute center pieces for my flowers!

I was so proud of myself for my awesome cheap-O find! Once arriving at my destination I grabbed my shopping cart and took off to the paint section. $.99 paint was my first problem... then 30% off canvas too! EEEK! I need to U-TURN this buggy to the fabric section A SAP! When I strolled up to the fabric I was tickled to see.. 30% all of the fabric I was interested in! WOOP! I bought a really cool navy almost denium colored. Then a basic khaki that would be a good netural color. (Perfect with the copper buttons) I really wanted some type of silky or meshy fabric to play with. I found the CLEARENCE rack of fabric and it had two PERFECT colors! A white and caramel color silky/mesh fabric. I racked up big time on those since they were on sale.

I stayed up until 4:00a.m. on Saturday playing with crafts! I swear I have ADD when it comes to crafting. I start one project and finish then I rotate to another. WEIRD I know... but it keeps it fresh and exciting for me. I was also jamming out to some Norah Jones. I'm in love with her newest album right now. I just couldn't stop making things and had to make myself go to bed knowing I would hate myself for staying up this long.

I made my boss Alice a necklace and brooch since she is always sporting a cute flower brooch on her blouses and jackets. The necklace... well, it reminded me of Talbots in a way and the way Ashley designed one of hers made me want to make one! I used the white fabric for all three flowers. I made the center flower puffy and fluffy with the vintage earring in the center! PERFECT touch! Then I made two different types of flowers for the end. While shopping at Sloans eairler that day for a new toliet kit... (yeah, I felt like a plumber helping Jason fix the toliet) I found some cool chains. Not really sure what the good ole people of Vonore would use these for... they were also next to a bucket that said, "Dog leash chair...$.39 a yard." Ummm... first of all, poor dogs being chained up and second why the hell am I getting crafty ideas from Sloans hardware store?? I loved it! My creative brain was going nuts thinking of ideas. I bought gold in a few different styles and one silver colored chain. No dog chains.. don't worry.

I've made a few so far and it's so easy and fun to make! Below are a few of the flower powers I've made! Enjoy!!!

The white material with the vintage earring!! <3

Vera Bradley material!!! Java Blue! :)

The necklace!!! :) I'm in love with this! <3

CUPCAKES!!!

LOVE CUPCAKES!!!

But why do I love cupcakes?
They are the perfect size cake, not too much... not too little!
A CUPCAKE!

I think cupcakes are cute as can be too! You can do so many things with cupcakes. Jason and I like to make yellow cake mix (Betty Crocker) and we make our own chocolate icing. YuMMo! Take that Paula Dean! A simple cupcake but a super yummy one!

I'm also in love with The Cupcakery in Knoxville!! DELISH! Their Red Velvet cupcake rocks! I try to stay away from there because it's so dangerous! Here is their site so you can check out some of their other cupcakes! Enjoy! http://www.v1.thecupcakery.net/knoxville/

While day dreaming about cupcakes I started to think about how fun it would be to paint a cute cupcake on some canvas... hmmmm. Off to Hobby Lobby I went to buy some canvas while it was still on sale for 30% off. Oh Happy Day! I started out hating it... and was super bumbed. :( Then I decided to play around and just go crazy with paint and mix Mod Podge in with the paint. Awesome idea! It makes such a cool texture! I got a little crazy with the mixture though. The cherry on top is almost like a pop art! Didn't make it for anyone... no request for a cupcake... I just decided to paint something I love. I might hang it on my desk at work... maybe on the inside of my cube where I can see it all day! Monitor a call... look at the cupcake... monitor a call... look at the cupcake.....! This painting just makes me smile and I hope it does the same thing to others. While sitting there thinking about what I want to do with the cupcake wrapper I was stumped! I didn't want to paint things on it because the metallic pink paint I bought was so cool looking. RIBBON!!! With PINK polka dots!!! It was the perfect touch! I also made the leaf on the cherry out of mesh type of material I use to make my flowers with. I painted it green with the Mod Podge paint mixture and it made it the perfect shape when it dried. A perfect LEAF! :) Enjoy the cupcake!

Perfect ending... a Cherry on TOP! :)

Easter Decor for work!!

I'm all bout decorating my cube at work!!! When you walk in my cube it has a tone of pink stuff anyways and cute magnets. I always say, since I have to sit in a cube all day why not make it fun and cute? Vera Bradley is a must for my desk! (Thanks JaC for my awesome Vera desk calendar!) I'm kind of bumbed about them not telling us sooner that we could decorate our desk as work until Friday last week. That means I shouldn't waste any $$$ on Easter decor! :( But... I CAN MAKE SOMETHING!!! WOOP! Yep, my head started spinning on ideas. I knew I could get poster board for cheap at the Dollar General on the way home and maybe they might have something in the Easter isle that will help my brain think of something else to make. Ummm... an M out of Easter eggs!!! SO CUTE! I bought the bright color plastic eggs, 2 bags. I used my hot glue gun to stick the eggs together to make the M. It took a lot of glue too! I also made it messy in the back hoping it would help hold the eggs better. I should have used a little sand paper on each egg first. DANG! Oh well, the M turned out super cute I think. I used white ribbon with hot pink polka dots with the perfect little bow at the top. :) TAA DAA! Super cheap Easter idea!!! Total Cost- $2!!!

Grass Stains

MY GARDEN IS GROWING!!!! Yellow Squash! I'm so proud of my little garden and hows it's growing! After being tickled about the leaves showing on my veggie plants I decided to just lay in the middle of the yard in the nice and fluffy grass. ( I felt like I was a kid again) Laying there in the grass with no blanket or towel felt refreshing! I always say it's the little things that make you smile... well, laying in the grass as a 26 year old made me smile. And what made the moment even better... DANDELIONS!!!! Yep! And I rolled over to grab one. Looking up to the sky seeing the moon starting to come out I  had a moment. The moment when you just smile because you know someone is looking down on you. It's like time stopped for a few minutes and nothing else mattered. What a wonderful way to end a long day with no thoughts going through my mind besides 'OH CRAP... HOPE A BUG DOESN'T CRAWL IN MY HAIR!!!!' That wonderful moment ended really fast and I jumped up! STUPID BUGS!

OH MY... COOKIE DOUGH... GASP!

If you love cookie dough as much as I love cookie dough you just let out a little gasp also... Yes ma'am.. that would be CHOCOLATE COVERED COOKIE DOUGH TRUFFLES!!!

While stuck at home since Thursday with the flu (Thanks to Jason) I was super bored between sleeping and being wide awake coughing. I had the STOOOOPID flu shot too! PSSHT! All I did while awake was play on http://www.stumbleupon.com/!!! I slept most of the time... to the point where I had to wake myself up to try and eat. My body ached so bad and I didn't want to move. I LOVE LOVE LOVE to play on STUMBLE UPON! It's so much fun to pick the things you're interested in then click the little STUMBLE button to go to the next page. I recently realized I could pick more categories such as *BLOGS* on top of different types of craft projects! I'm hooked even more now! So many wonderful creative people out there in the world that do the same things I do and think the same way I think... weird? No, I think it's pretty cool! Mostly because I know I'm not the only person that thinks of creative ideas 24/7!

While playing on STUMBLE I stumbled upon a site that said... CHOCOLATE COVERED COOKIE DOUGH TRUFFLES!!! I'm in love! I'm going to make these for a special day at work or just for any day! I'll make them just to see people smile! :) They would make me smile real big if someone brought them into my life! A HUGE SMILE! Such a cute idea too! I'm a white chocolate fan but I like milk chocolate alright... not as much as white. I could even dye with food coloring the white chocolate to make it cute and colorful! Cute ideas I love it!!! And something super yummy and cute to make! ENJOY!

Time to fire up the ole grill!

One of my favorite things about Spring and Summer time is grilling out! I LOVE IT! Food taste better when it comes from an outside grill. Last time we took a trip to Memphis Jason's brother in law grilled out smoked sausages. Usually not a huge fan of sausage I wasn't too excited for it but thought I would at least eat a few pieces. Well, it was super yummy! Harry put a blackened seasoning and other yummy flavors to marinate the sausage right before placing them on the grill. They also kept it simple and served it with cubes of cheese. (Any cheese will do) Then we had plane saltine crackers... which we had plenty of since we just had the flu. Another exciting thing I threw on the grill was fruit skewers!! Strawberries and pineapple! YuM O! The sausage cooked really fast and left a yummy caramel all over the grill. Once I placed the fruit skewers on the grill they made the awesome sizzle! Once it was time to eat I of course wanted the more burnt pieces of sausage. I ended up trying a piece of grilled pineapple with a piece of sausage together... O.M.G. I suggest you go out to the store, buy a pineapple and a smoked sausage link and throw them on the grill ASAP!

WAIT!!! Instead of throwing away the pineapple topper make a pineapple plant. My sweet Granny loves to grow pineapple plants indoors. They look cool and modern also. I'll post the link that I followed to cut the stem for the planting. I'm pretty pumped about growing a pineapple plant also because that means I get to buy a cool pot and either paint it or Mod Podge it!! CRAFTY TIME!

I can breath!!!

Tired of being cooped up for the past 3 days I decided to sit on the back patio while the wind was blowing and maybe I could get some fresh air! It was so peaceful just sitting on the patio swing with my gatorade with the wind making all of the noises. I would also hear the cars driving by, dogs barking every once and a while then a random cow mooing! LOL! The wind over powered most of the noise and it was nice and spring time cool wind. It felt great to just relax and be able to breath!

FLU SHOT!!!!! Didn't work for Jason...

Oh Happy Day at The Brown House... JASON HAS THE FLU!!! Poor fella can't catch a break! I'm going to put him in a bubble! Awww... my little bubble boy lover.

Yep, he had the flu shot back when UT came to work for FLU SHOT DAY! First time for him to get the flu shot too! My fingers are crossed toes too that I won't catch it! His doctor gave him Tamiflu and a bunch of other meds to make him get better soon. They also said not to go back to work until Sunday or Monday. All of his extra hours and overtime at work will now be normal hours. I feel so bad because he was working extra hours to get the new iPhone4. Mr. Bubble Boy needs a new phone so bad too! His P.O.S phone is about to kick the bucket . So, once again Nurse MeG is at The Brown House taking care of the sick fella!

After reading up on Tamiflu they suggested that if you live in the house or around someone with the flu to call your doctor and ask for a prescription. RING RING RING... Dr. Kirby I need some TAMIFLU ASAP! So hopefully after my oh so fun dentist appt tomorrow I'll run by and pick up my prescription at Walgreens. I can't miss work so I CANNOT get the stoooopid flu! Bomb Pops and chicken noodle soup for Jason! :)

YEAH RIGHT!!!
Not at The Brown House!!!!

PJ's at work?? YES PLEASE!

Today was the last day of our little spirit week/ Best Customer promo events! The best way to end a few weeks of fun times... wearing our PJ's to work!! YAH! Why can't everyday be PJ day at work? It was so comfy and relaxing too! I guess we all stayed in sleepy head mode all day or either we had a case of the Mondays... blah! But these past few weeks have been so much fun at work! Everyone that joined in on the fun had a good ole time also. I'll keep this short and sweet so I can post pictures of everyone's favorite jammies!
