CaKe PoP CrAzY!

Cake pops are my new favorite project I've been hooked on these last few months. I have always looked forward to the weekend for my two days off but now I get excited to make cake pops on my days off. I usually make them on Sunday with my Gran. I've been able to learn how to make these sweet treats without my machine and now I make each pop by hand. The machine is perfect and I love it still but I've found a new way to make them and shape them any shape or size. If I want to make a bunch of the round ones I'll use the machine. But lately I've been hooked on seeing what I could make on a tiny little round ball of cake. Pinterest has also played a huge role in my creative brain wanting to try new designs, shapes and colors. Jaclyn and I had a cake pop day on my day off and we had tons of fun. Elizabeth and I played cake pops one night along with a few beers and Mob Wives. ( lol... yes, we watch that show while making the pops) I've made more than 500 cake pops since December 2011. AC Moore, Michael's and Hobby Lobby have been my go to places for supplies. I'm so thankful for the weekly 40% and 50% off coupons. :)

I've enjoyed bringing these pops to work on Monday's and passing them out to everyone. A cake pop will brighten any ones day. Well from making them and bringing them each week people have wanted to place orders. I also have to say Facebook has also helped me with orders. What a perfect treat for V-Day! I've now make cake pops for a b-day party and I have several request for V-Day.

Tomorrow is FRIDAY and that puts me one day closer to the weekend and CaKe PoP CrAzY time!

Hello Cake Pops!

It's been a while since I've blogged but I've been busy/ lazy. Ha Ha... at least I'm being honest. It all started with a simple post on my Facebook wall of the BabyCakes Cake Pop Maker saying, "Dear Santa, I've been really good this year.!!! Love, MeG! Then I posted the picture of the little pop maker. (It's kind of like a waffle iron but with little round circles.) Well, Santa must be a Facebook stalker because he saw my post and I got TWO for Christmas! Next year, Santa will get cake pops instead of cookies! My sweet Granny and Pop bought me one of them and Jason's awesome sister bought the other! AKA... Santa!

The first pops that were made were just plain yellow cake with white chocolate icing and a rainbow sprinkles on top! Thanks to Ali and Claire for being big helpers! We ended up making 120 balls from two cake box mixes. A LOT OF CAKE POPS! But the great part was if you leave them in the freezer you can saved them for up to 4 weeks. So The Durbin's had plenty of leftover cake balls to dip once we left. We made 68 for Claire's class at school. Such a cute idea for a mess free treat! The best part about these cake pops were that everyone help! Shannon, Claire and Ali each played a role in these tasty first timer pops. I also was able to use some tips and tricks I found on Pinterest.

Of course I used my camera (which still seems brand new to me) to capture every moment of this fun time with the little girls and big girls!

This is the idea I found on Pinterest for letting the cake pops dry!

Chocolate Covered Day at Work! (Thanks Kelsey)

Friday at work was "National Chocolate Covered Day" and everyone was supposed to bring in something with chocolate or covered in chocolate... anything chocolate! Normally I'd do chocolate covered strawberries but it's winter and they are so much $$$$$ right now! BOO! So, I invited Kelsey over to play! We bought pretzel rods, Nutter Butter cookies, rice krispie treats (pre wrapped) we were supposed to also make cup cakes... but that didn't happen. We finished a bunch of stuff but we both had to work early that next day and we had some wine. :)

We made reindeer Nutter Butter cookies. They had M&M red noses and icing eyes then I glued the pretzel antlers on with melted chocolate.

We also made Snowmen Nutter Butter cookies. The had M&M green buttons, icing eyes and mouth then I made orange white icing for the carrot nose. So freaking cute! I loved making the noses.

Another thing we made were large pretzel rods. We dipped them in white chocolate and milk chocolate. Then we rolled them in sprinkles. SUPER CUTE!! Yummy too! Salty and Sweet!

Rice Krispie Treats dipped in white chocolate on one side was the last treat to make. We tried putting them on sticks but that was a huge FAIL! We got the thin sticks because they were cheaper... OoOps! So instead we let them dry then I dipped all four sides in sprinkles. I think they turned out pretty cute.

We had a fun night and the wine make it extra exciting. A few burnt fingers and a lot of chocolate we had some cute treats for work. :)

Baked Apple Chip

While being a Pinterest addict I found this super yummy idea to make apple chips. First off I didn't have an apple corer... so I found a cool pin that showed someone using a potato peeler to core an apple with! OMG it worked too! After I cored my apples I cut them into thin slices I placed them out on a baking sheet. I then sprinkled cinnamon on top of all the apple and baked them. The directions are listed below so get to cutting those apples and enjoy! YuM!

What you will need:
  • 2 apples
  • Cinnamon
Directions:
  • Remove apple core. I most likely did this wrong since half of the apple was missing when I removed it but you get the idea.
  • Thinly slice the entire apple.
  • Line a cookie sheet with parchment paper and place apple slices on it.
  • Sprinkle with cinnamon.
  • Bake at 275 degrees for two hours. At the end of hour one flip them over so they bake evenly.

I Believe...

Cooper Thomas

CTW... Sweet little fella! I had the pleasure of taking pictures of my cousins new baby boy Cooper this past weekend. First time taking pictures of a baby too! It was so much fun working with that wiggle worm. He did a great job considering he was naked on a blanket wearing a pumpkin hat in 85 degree weather. His little movements helped me get the perfect pictures. His little butt is so cute and tiny in some of the pictures. Made me giggle with all of his baby wrinkles and flat butt. No bubble butt for Cooper! (Hannah got in trouble when she was little because I taught her to say bubble butt) Of course I didn't hold him because he's so tiny but next time I see him in May for her wedding he should be big enough for me to hold. :)

Cooper Thomas... Aunty MeG loves you little fella!!
